They told her she couldn’t do it! This 5’6” former dancer decided she wanted to be a Las Vegas Firefighter but they told her she needed to be home in the kitchen cooking and pregnant. Peggy Munson showed everyone and earned her position as one of the few female Firefighters at the Las Vegas Fire Department. She served on the Fire Squad for 22 years as a Firefighter/ Arson Investigator and then was promoted to a Bomb Technician. She has been deputized as a US Marshall and obtained a Secret Service clearance.
Peggy raised her daughter as a single mother throughout her career. She is an inspiration to anyone with a dream and a great role model to other girls and women looking to work in any male dominated field. Retired for 5 years, Peg, still teaches for the Army Special Forces, Navy Seals, United States Air Force and the First Responders throughout the United States, as well as teaching Fire Science I & II at the College of Southern Nevada.
