Awareness is a good place to start!
What you say to a friend or loved one who has experienced abuse, on any level, has the potential to impact their ability to not only find solace, but also how they recover. We think we know what to say, and yet, we can innocently use the wrong words or advice and inflict more harm to this person all over again. Our guest this week explains why she calls this “Double Abuse.”
Annette Oltmans has founded The Mend Project, a nonprofit organization that is helping educate organizations, churches, professionals, and individuals on how to avoid further injury to victims of abuse. This eye-opening and unique perspective will get you thinking, and give you pause. Awareness is a good place to start!
